A candidate for the B.Sc. (Honours) examination shall be required to offer and be examined in one Honours subject comprising eight papers, two subsidiary subjects comprising four papers, one/two languages as Composition comprising two papers, totaling fourteen papers,according to the following structure: -

Note 1:- Each of these papers shall carry 100 marks
Provided that wherever practical examination is prescribed

(i) In case of a Subsidiary subject, each of the two papers shall include 25 marks for practical examination
(ii) In case of an Honours subject, Papers I and II shall carry 75 marks each and a practical examination of 50 marks, papers III and IV shall carry 75 marks each and a practical examination of 50 marks and papers V, VI, VII shall be full theory papers each carrying 100 marks and paper VIII shall be a full paper of practical examination carrying 100 marks.
Note 2:- A candidate for the B.Sc. (Honours) examination shall choose any one of the following groups:

1. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics   4. Botany, Zoology, Geology
2. Botany, Zoology, Chemistry   5. Botany, Chemistry, Geology
3. Physics, Mathematics, Geology   6. Zoology, Chemistry, Geology

 

Provided that a candidate shall not choose:

(i) Mathematics or Statistics unless he/she passed the I.Sc. examination or equivalent in Physics & Mathematics
(ii) Physics unless he/she passed the I.Sc. examination or equivalent in Physics and Mathematics
(iii) Chemistry unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. examination or equivalent in Chemistry with Maths or Biology
(iv) Botany/Zoology unless he/she has passed I.Sc. examination or equivalent in Biology
(v) Geology unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. Examination or equivalent in Geology. However a student may be admitted to B.Sc. Geology (Hons.), if he/she has passed Intermediate examination or equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate.

 

Note 3:- A candidate shall choose either (a) or (b) for Composition:

(a) Hindi one full paper of 100 marks for each of the Part-I and Part-II examinations
(b) Hindi : (50 marks) and one of the following languages (50 marks) for each of the Part-I and Part-II examinations:

Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, Urdu, Bengali, Oriya, Nepali, Santhali, Mundari, Ho, Nagpuri, Khariya, Kurukh, Kurmali and English.

 

Qualification For Examination:

A student may be admitted to the course of instructions for the degree of Bachelor of Science (General/ Honours) if S/he has passed the Intermediate examination in Science of a Board/Council University established or incorporated. by Law, or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
Provided that for admission to the course of instructions for the Honours degree it shall be necessary for a student to have obtained not less than 45% marks at the Intermediate examination in the subject offered for Honours study, or in an allied subject as determined by the Academic Council in case the subject was not prescribed for study at the Intermediate level. In such case a student must have passed Intermediate /Board/ Council or any equivalent examination with an aggregate of 45% marks. Provided that a candidate shall not choose: -

  1. Mathematics or Statistics unless S/he passed the I.Sc. Examination or equivalent in Maths.
  2. Physics unless S/he passed the I.Sc. Examination or equivalent in Physics and Maths.
  3. Chemistry unless S/he has passed the I.Sc. Examination or equivalent in Chemistry with Maths or Biology.
  4. Botany/Zoology unless S/he has passed I.Sc. examination or equivalent in Chemistry and Botany/Zoology
  5. Geology unless She/he has passed the I.Sc. Examination or equivalent in Geology or S/he has passed Intermediate examination or equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate. A student may be admitted to Bachelor of Science (General/Honours) in Geology, if S/he has secured at least 45% marks in aggregate at the Intermediate Examination in Science or equivalent thereto.
